Black: the new Black

Since Jocelyn is up in the USA this week, Steve took a break from his busy work/party lifestyle and decided to do some work on the Cruiser. Instead of all the moderately important maintenance tasks that he could have choosen, he decided: "Louie needs new shoes". Out came the spray paint, and BAM! new wheels. Ok, actually: took the time to clean the wheels, then wire-wheeled them down to bare metal in the many spots where there was surface rust. Then used some metal-prep stuff (basically phosphoric acid, or some sort of acid that turns rust into black oxidation, which is less invasive). Then, out came the spraypaint. Krylon worked better than the cheaper stuff. No big surprise there. So far they've got about.... two miles on them, but still no chips/peeling. Which is nice. Steve has wanted black wheels for most of the last five years. It only took about three hours of work. Should've done it five years ago!
