Big News
So we bought a house!
That's why we haven't been writing much. We've been busy moving and trying to get things looking the way we want them. So far we are really excited about the new place, not just because it is really great to have a place of one's own, but because the house itself has a great feel to it and we are really happy there.
We'll get some pictures of the real thing up, soon, but for now I'll just post up some of the pictures that were published in Costa Rica's architectural magazine "Su Casa". We didn't move far, by the way, just next door to where we were living before, but it still feels like a pretty big step for us.

(Hope I haven't posted this more than once) Sorry to bother you. I randomly found your blog doing research on Tamarindo. My wife and I (currently in VA) are having a sabbatical in Tamarindo for the month of January. I have been to C. America before (Belize and Guatemala) but never Costa Rica. I had a few questions if you don't mind. Is it rather easy to use MC and Visa in Tamarindo, or shoudld we stick to Colones? Being that I am originally from Alaska, and have never surfed, is it unrealistic to try and learn on the waves of Tamrindo? Meaning, is it almost all coral or is there beach break? We have a small villa rented, and I am thinking $20 a day is a reasonable budget, is that realistic in Tamarindo? Do a lot of fellas play any beach soccer there, and is there any place to watch English Premier League soccer in the town? Sorry to trouble you, congrats on the new house.

hi Jocelyn and Steve,
I just found your blog as we are looking to drive up thru CR back to the US to deliver a vehicle there. Anyway, my husband said he knows your husband is active on Landcruiser sites (we just imported 2 from the US ourselves into CR). I swear he is on those sites daily, as one Landcruiser he converted to diesel and the other is in the planning...
We live and work in Nosara and I like to make jewelery. So after discovering your blog I just thought I'd say a personal hello from down south as we have so much in common!!
Take care and I'll keep reading your wonderful blog. Next time you come down south, you're welcome to say hello and stay over a bit with us!

Everyone: Thanks to all for the well-wishes.
Buck: Tamarindo is a GREAT place to learn to surf. Abundant instructors, easy to moderate waves. Sandy bottom (some easily avoidable rock outcrops) and good access to medical help in the unlikely event that you need it. Oh, and plenty of places to get a massage if/when you are sore after your first few days.
Heidi: Drop us an email sometime! Especially if you are headed this way. Steve [at] sandcruiser [dot] com
Rob: There are other, similar, houses on our street that are for sale Check out www.bbcstarica.com and search for Oro del Sol, for more info.
