Just a nice photo
Not too much new to relate.... plenty of time lounging about by the pool, surfing, hanging out with friends..... and far too much time in our respective offices working. Seems like we are working more and more instead of less and less... but both of us are feeling fortunate in our current levels of success, so no real complaints there. The plants on our patio make a nice shadow in the morning, as you can see in this otherwise fairly mediocre photo.Labels: photo
Tide Chart Fun
Our intrepid web developer just put together some code that generates a tide chart for our area. You can check it out here if you like. Or you can refer to the sidebar on the left of your screen where we've included a link.
The chart hasn't meant much to us recently as we've spent most of our time the last few days avoiding Easter crowds by sitting at home by the pool, reading and chatting. Nice mini-vacation that, alas, seems to have come to an end. Oh well. At least the crowds are also thinning out at the beaches so we can get back into the water for some surfing.

NPR : The Practice of Slowing Down
Interesting very short essay on the importance of pace. I would do well to remember it in these hectic weeks I've been having. Of course, I thought that moving off to Costa Rica would take care of the frenetic lifestyle that I was leading in San Diego (which, by some accounts was already a 'low stress' environment), but it didn't. So it is nice to be reminded of the importance of taking things more slowly.NPR : The Practice of Slowing Down
Nifty Time/Date Trick
At three seconds after two minutes past one o'clock in the morning on the fourth of May we'll have a fun little time/date event in which the time can be written as
01:02:03 04/05/06. Pretty cool.
In the US, the same thing will happen on April fifth, which is this Wednesday. But this 'event' is fine example of how the typical USA date is a little lacking in logic... Who really thinks it makes sense to say "hour, minute, second, month, day, year"? instead of "hour, minute, second, day, month, year"? No, really, if you can defend the logic, by all means do so. I'd love to hear some creative thinking here.
Ah, well. Hardly the most important thing in a long list of measurement idiosyncrasies of the US, right?
