Nifty Time/Date Trick

At three seconds after two minutes past one o'clock in the morning on the fourth of May we'll have a fun little time/date event in which the time can be written as
01:02:03 04/05/06. Pretty cool.

In the US, the same thing will happen on April fifth, which is this Wednesday. But this 'event' is fine example of how the typical USA date is a little lacking in logic... Who really thinks it makes sense to say "hour, minute, second, month, day, year"? instead of "hour, minute, second, day, month, year"? No, really, if you can defend the logic, by all means do so. I'd love to hear some creative thinking here.

Ah, well. Hardly the most important thing in a long list of measurement idiosyncrasies of the US, right?

Haha, yes I agree. :-)

However, I think logic behind it is that we SAY "May 5th, 2006" instead of "6 May, 2006", so that it's a direct transcription of our speech. But really, it wouldn't take that much brain power to remember that 04/05 is May 4th, not April 5th. ;-)
