Bear with
us on this decidedly Tarantino-esque photo documentary of the City.
(There were just too
many photos to arrange them all, so we are at the mercy of the
alphabet)

Our first daylight view of DC was from the roof of the Hay Adams. Wouldn't help but wonder how many people were watching us as we peered down on the White House |
Off to the right we had a bunch of cool older buildings |

|
Really cute public phone and mail slot in the hallway at the Hay Adams, where we stayed (for free!) because the Sofitel over-booked. |
Beebee was pretty excited about the slippers (and everything else in the beautiful room!) |

|
Another shot of the lovely room. Great bed! |
While not quite as nice, here is our room at the Sofitel. Still better than what we expected. |
Not sure if the Sofitel room was better than their normal ones inside, but to make up for the "terrible inconvenience" of spending our first night at the Hay Adams, we got a free updgrade to the seventh floor, corner room at the Sofitel. Yes! |
Out walking around with Keith and David, stopped to take a snap of the BofA building with big fluffy clouds. The wind was strong enough that to watch this through the camera for very long made us dizzy. |

While this was the last monument we saw on our first day, we present it first, because K comes before everything else in the alphabet. This was our least favorite monument, but still impressive |
Hard to beat good old honest-Abe sitting there all carved out of marble at about 10 times life-size |

|
Bb, happy to be in the City. |
Bb and Steve |

|
This is a portion of the WWII monument with the Lincoln Memorial in the background |
Pretty trees along the path along the reflecting pool in front of Lincoln |
Keith is in the corner as we walk down Pennsylvania Ave in front of the White house |
||||||||||||
|
Bb tucked in behind a wall to get out of the cold wind for a while. The clear sunlight made for a pleasant day, but the cold wind was a bit much for our tropical blood |

|
More Penn Ave w/ David, Bb, and Keith. The White House is directly to our left, but we don't get to see a ground level shot until page 2 (after the Hay Adams' roof.... why shoot ground level, anyway?) |
David and Bb took a breather in the warm sunshine... |
...and watched some geese. Which, as you may or may not recall, are mean little critters |
Actually the first building at which we stopped, the US Treasury building should look familiar to anyone who has looked at US money |
